Popium are yet another in a long line of brilliant artists from Bergen in Norway - most of whom unfortunately never get heard of outside Scandinavia (except the boy wonder Sondre Lerche). The music is straightforward pop/rock, but there are sophisticated little references to past heroes - Beach Boys, Beatles, whoever - which lift the album over the average. The playing is tight and the lyrics are intelligent (and intelligible, never a bad thing!). Definitely worth a listen.
