Touyama - 當山みれい
Composed by:Mirei Toyama/Samuel Morris Zornow/Zak Adams Leaver
Produced by:Zak Leaver/MIREI
When I see the ocean of Oki
I always remember what my grandma once told me
When she was young she saw the horizon in black
On all sides battleships ready to attack
Okinawa is an Island in the island
With hibiscus and dialect blooming out of the soil of my family's ghosts
This prefecture wasn't always part of Japan
And is was turned into a battlefield for WW2
Where mothers and babies had to hide together in forced silence
Holding each other as soldiers destroyed their lives
I was born and raised in Naich in Osaka with my father last name of Oki
The first time I saw him cry was when we visited his childhood home
And memories of his parents brothers and sisters washed over him
Even with my imperfect nationality
My uncles siad You're family
Come back here any time
Now when I hear the ocean
Even with the waves breaking on foreign military bases
I picture my grandpa and his Sanshin guitar
I heard him playing once and it was beautiful

This is the song of my history in the name of Touyama
