Café Quijano

Café Quijano

by Drago BonacichSpanish alternative act Café Quijano got involved in the local rock scene in 1996 when brothers Manuel, Oscar, and Raúl Quijano, inspired by their father, a professional singer, decided to record a demo and organize a live performance at León's Emperador Theatre. Soon after, the band was signing up to Warner, issuing a self-titled album in 1998, followed by a tour around Spain. Café Quijano consolidation came with the release of La Extraordinaria Paradoja del Sonido Quijano, an experimental record where the band combines rock with well-known Latin rhythms such as rumba, guaracha, son, and mambo. That album became the group's first platinum record. Taberna del Buda appeared in spring 2001.
