Formed in 1992 by guitarist Mark Evans and drummer Matthew Racovalis, Alarum recorded a number of demos before solidifying their lineup with vocalist/bassist Mark Palfreyman and second guitarist Scott Young in late 1995. Another two years of writing and rehearsal followed before the band's debut album, Fluid Motion, was finally released to mixed reviews. The band continues to write and perform in Australia, but a long promised second effort has yet to materialize.
