故事主要描述了住在纽约的六个好朋友:

故事开始在center perk 咖啡馆里，婚礼上落荒而逃的瑞秋闯进来寻找老同学莫妮卡。莫妮卡的哥哥刚刚离婚，而他从小暗恋的人正是这个落跑新娘瑞秋。瑞秋在莫妮卡家住了下来，决定不在做爸爸的女孩儿，真正的步入社会，于是在其他老友的帮助下，她上路了，从二十多岁初入社会，到三十多岁成家立业，他们一走就是十年。
十年间风风雨雨，在嬉笑怒骂中，在离别团聚中，他们向我们讲述着友情、爱情还有生活。让我们和他们一起开怀大笑或是黯然神伤。相关评论
《Friends》之所以受人欢迎，其一是因为它完全具备消费良品的素质，而更重要的是，在不断的笑声中，它让我们看到了另一种和我们一样普通的生活，形形色色的人因为情感、原则、利益、地位等问题产生矛盾、闹出笑话，同时，亲情、友情、爱情也在这里升华。《Friends》无形中成为人们日常生活的一面镜子，可以让我们学习生活，去欣赏生活中的那些真善美。
分集剧情
第一季（共24集）
瑞秋、摩妮卡、菲比、钱德、乔伊和罗斯悉数登场。罗斯刚刚因为他的妻子卡萝尔（Carol）同性恋而离婚。此时摩妮卡, 菲比和罗斯都单独居住，只有钱德勒和乔伊住在一个公寓里。这时莫妮卡的老朋友瑞秋穿着婚纱闯进了Central Perk咖啡馆，她刚刚逃脱了自己和未婚夫巴里（Barry）的婚礼，并搬来和摩妮卡一起住。很快瑞秋成为Central Perk的一名服务员，开始学着告别从前优裕的生活独立养活自己。 此时罗斯的前妻已经怀有罗斯的孩子，后来她将这个男孩生下来，取名为本（Ben），由卡萝尔和她的同性恋女友苏珊（Susan）共同抚养。罗斯其实从高中就开始暗恋瑞秋，但他却一而再再而三的错过了表白的机会，反而眼睁睁看着瑞秋和不同男性交往。剧情也因此笑料重重。
第二季（共24集）
罗斯此时并不知道瑞秋已经对他有了感觉，他已经和在中国重逢的老同学,同是古生物学家的茱莉（Julie）开始一段了恋情。瑞秋对此很不开心，于是尝试破坏这一对恋人。
很快瑞秋也与另一个男人约会了。但一次在瑞秋大醉时，在罗斯的电话留言机上说“我已经忘掉你了！”（I am over you），并被罗斯发现。之后罗斯来到Central Perk，生气地告诉瑞秋这本不应该告诉他，但罗斯离开之后咖啡馆又折回，这次他与瑞秋拥吻了。之后罗斯在瑞秋和Julie两人中无所适从，于是钱德勒建议用一张单子列出两人的优缺点之后决定。但罗斯知道自己真正爱的还是瑞秋，于是很快与Julie分手。不幸的是瑞秋发现了那张列有自己优缺点的单子，异常生气的她拒绝了罗斯。
后来，朋友们一起观看了一卷瑞秋和摩妮卡准备学校舞会的录像带。瑞秋看到这里被罗斯感动了，决定和罗斯重新开始。
乔伊由于在肥皂剧“我们的生活”（Days of our Lives）扮演雷莫瑞（Ramorey）医生大获成功，已经赚够了钱可以住进自己的公寓了。菲比此时找到了他同父异母的弟弟小弗兰克（Frank）。
在这一段时间，摩妮卡与父亲的老朋友理查德（Richard）交往。但由于后来李察告诉摩妮卡他以后不想再要孩子后，一心想要孩子的莫妮卡忍痛与其分手。
第三季（共25集）
瑞秋把在Central Perk的工作辞掉，开始尝试在时尚界找一份工作。后来她遇到了马克（Mark），马克在Bloomingdate's为她找了一份工作，但罗斯始终确信Mark对瑞秋有企图，因此变得异常敏感和嫉妒。这种紧张关系在他们的周年纪念日是达到了顶点，瑞秋由于工作无法和罗斯共进晚餐，罗斯就带了食物到瑞秋办公室，但弄得一团糟直到瑞秋命令他回到了家。两人在回家后的争吵最终导致两人赌气分手（take a break）。
当晚，罗斯和瑞秋都试图解决他们之间的分歧。罗斯在和乔伊 、钱德勒在外面喝酒的时候，罗斯打电话给瑞秋，碰巧马克来到家里探望瑞秋，罗斯气愤地挂断了电话。在绝望的时候他和一名叫Chloé的女子度过了一夜，当第二天他和瑞秋试图重归于好时，瑞秋却知道了罗斯的一夜情，一段激烈争吵和绝望的哀求之后，他们最终分手了。
但是，在这一季结尾，看到罗斯开始和邦妮（Bonnie）约会时，瑞秋感到非常伤心。当罗斯和瑞秋为此争吵时，他们发现彼此仍然爱着对方。本季最后，罗斯来到走廊，面对着邦妮和瑞秋两个卧室的门，犹豫着。
第四季（共24集）
罗斯决定与瑞秋复合，与邦妮分手。于是瑞秋写了一封长信表达自己的感受，信中提出要罗斯承担过去这一段错误的一切责任，但罗斯无法接受，于是很快又分手了。
与此同时，当菲比不断询问老菲比时，才知道老菲比其实是菲比的生母。回到纽约之后，菲比同意成为弟弟小弗兰克和弟媳艾丽丝的代孕母亲。于是她很快接受了人工受孕并一下子怀了三胞胎。
钱德勒和乔伊，摩妮卡和瑞秋这两对在一次谁比较了解谁的争吵中决定要进行一次比赛。最后，钱德勒和乔伊赢了，瑞秋，摩妮卡输掉了公寓。在住了一段日子之后，瑞秋和摩妮卡决定拿橄榄球票交换回自己的公寓，但随后的比赛钱德勒他们又赢了。但当他们从橄榄球场回来时，却发现摩妮卡他们已经快速换回了自己的公寓，钱德勒和乔伊觉得很不公平，当摩妮卡和瑞秋同意在两个男生面前亲吻才解决了问题。
此时罗斯遇到了一个叫艾蜜丽（Emily）的英国女孩，并决定和她交往。当艾蜜丽要回英国时，两人恋恋不舍并最终决定结婚，最后一集，菲比由于怀孕，瑞秋由于旧情问题，两人留在纽约。其他人都赶赴伦敦参加罗斯的婚礼。在婚宴上，摩妮卡触景生情很伤感，钱德勒于是安慰她，后来两人竟睡在了一起。当瑞秋意识到自己仍然爱着罗斯的时候决定飞赴伦敦把这一切告诉罗斯。但当她到达时，看到幸福的罗斯和艾蜜丽，她决定自己不应该扰乱了这个婚礼。婚礼照常进行，但最后在婚礼上神父面前，罗斯在做婚礼宣誓的时候，却将艾蜜丽的名字说成了瑞秋。
第五季（共24集）
罗斯和艾蜜丽的婚礼在罗斯说错之后仍然得以继续，他们完婚了。但在招待会上，艾蜜丽与罗斯大吵了一架并消失了。在所有人都回到纽约之后，瑞秋告诉了罗斯她仍然爱着他。此时Emily也从英国打来电话说如果罗斯还想复合的话就不能够再见瑞秋。在罗斯同意之后，艾蜜丽更提出让他远离瑞秋的无理要求，甚至要他搬家。最后，罗斯觉得无法信任对方的婚姻没有意义，因此两人离婚了。
此时罗斯已经搬出了自己的公寓，所以他搬到钱德勒和乔伊住处住了一段时间，直到后来他找到了跟朋友们很近的新的住处。很快罗斯由于自己的上司吃了自己感恩节剩下的三明治大发雷霆，导致自己丢掉了在博物馆的工作。
在第100集（本季第三集），菲比生下了三胞胎，分别是男孩儿小小Frank（Frank Jr Jr）， 两个女孩儿Leslie和钱德勒（大家原本以为会有两个男孩）。菲比曾经试图留下一个孩子留在身边，但无奈弗兰克和艾丽丝一点也不舍得。
在伦敦同床一夜之后，钱德勒和摩妮卡忽然感到了对方极具吸引力，所以决定秘密地维持他们的亲密关系。后来乔伊发现了，但被迫要保守秘密。然后瑞秋也发现了。菲比是下一个知道的，于是她和瑞秋想搞恶作剧，假装突然很喜欢钱德勒地与钱德勒挑逗，钱德勒和摩妮卡知道后也假戏真作，直到最后钱德勒受不了了被迫承认自己已经爱上了摩妮卡。当罗斯随后发现之后，这两人的恋情真正公之于众了。 瑞秋在拉夫劳伦求得了一份工作。
在该季最后，乔伊获得一个做电影男主角的机会，但当他到达拉斯维加斯时，电影却因为资金问题被迫停止了。最后一集，钱德勒、摩妮卡和菲比来到拉斯维加斯看望乔伊（乔伊谎称自己在拍电影），他们在Caesar's Palace Hotel的休息室发现了扮成罗马卫士陪人照相的乔伊。然后罗斯和瑞秋也赶往拉斯维加斯。在飞机上，罗斯在瑞秋脸上画画，但下了飞机后发现洗不掉，因此罗斯只好陪着不愿出酒店房间的瑞秋，后来两人都喝得大醉。
钱德勒和摩妮卡决定在拉斯维加斯的小教堂结婚，但他们刚到就遇到了罗斯和瑞秋，这两个酩酊大醉的人刚刚也糊涂结了婚
第六季（共25集）
在发现两人已经结婚之后，两人决定到法院取消夫妻关系，但罗斯担心自己可能要离婚三次之多，所以谎称自己已经取消了。瑞秋后来发现之后逼着罗斯去取消，但由于瑞秋在取消申请中填写了关于罗斯的羞辱性语句，最后导致两人只能通过离婚解决问题。
罗斯在纽约大学找到了一份教古生物学的工作。钱德勒和摩妮卡决定暂时不结婚，而是先同居。钱德勒搬到了摩妮卡的住处，瑞秋跟菲比住在了一起。后来，一场起火事件使瑞秋搬到了摩妮卡的住处，菲比以为自己引起了火灾，转而在条件较差的乔伊那里住了下来。后来发现火灾原来是由于瑞秋的直发器引起的，所以两人调换了住处。瑞秋发现跟乔伊住更有趣而与此同时，菲比正为摩妮卡的洁癖而倍受折磨。
在这一季结尾，钱德勒决定向摩妮卡求婚。
第七季（共24集）
菲比和瑞秋的公寓已经修复完毕，菲比搬回了公寓，瑞秋继续和乔伊住在一起。乔伊重新在我们的日子（Days of Our Lives）里得到了一个角色。
在最后一集，钱德勒和摩妮卡的婚礼，但在前一夜，钱德勒突然临阵畏缩，害怕起来，逃走躲了起来。他走了之后，菲比在卫生间找了一个用过的验孕棒，显示有孕，所以断定摩妮卡有了身孕。后来菲比和罗斯在办公室找到了钱德勒并说服他回来，回来后他听到了菲比与瑞秋的窃窃私语——摩妮卡怀孕了！钱德勒和摩妮卡最终完婚，当摩妮卡说自己并没有怀孕时，这一季结束了。这其实已经暗示了怀孕的人其实是瑞秋。
第八季（共24集）
瑞秋证实自己怀孕了，第二集中大家发现罗斯其实是孩子的父亲，事情就发生在钱德勒和摩妮卡婚礼前的一个月。瑞秋和乔伊继续住在一起，这时乔伊忽然对瑞秋产生了感觉。当罗斯觉得自己在丧失了很多父亲的感觉时，乔伊只好建议瑞秋搬到罗斯那里住。后来乔伊表达了自己对瑞秋的感觉，但瑞秋婉拒了。 最后一集，瑞秋给自己的女儿取名叫Emma。尽管Emma这个名字是摩妮卡从小就计划好了的，准备用在自己孩子身上的。
第九季（共24集）
罗斯、瑞秋和Emma继续住在一起，直到一天他们由于当时两人的奇怪的关系争吵起来——两人住在一起，有孩子，但却不处于恋爱关系。于是瑞秋决定领着Emma搬回到乔伊那里。 钱德勒的公司把他调职到俄克拉荷马州的塔尔萨，商量后。他决定独自前往塔尔萨。在圣诞夜，一名女职员想在办公室与钱德勒调戏，结果钱德勒辞了职，随后投身广告界。
钱德勒和摩妮卡屡次试图要一个孩子，但总是失败，因此他们来到医院检查，发现两人都有生理问题不能够生孩子，于是两人决定领养。 菲比开始跟Mike约会。后来两人决定开始同居，Mike告诉菲比由于自己之前失败的婚姻，他不打算在结婚了。而菲比却想结婚，因此两人分手了。 这一季后来，瑞秋也对乔伊产生了感觉。
最后一集，一帮人决定去巴巴多斯岛，跟要到那里作演讲的罗斯一起度假。菲比带着自己的男朋友David（第一季中到明斯克工作的科学家），乔伊带着自己的女友Charlie（最初是和罗斯约会的，但后来爱上了乔伊）。摩妮卡知道了David计划向菲比求婚，但摩妮卡深知菲比仍然爱着Mike，所以摩妮卡打电话给Mike让他赶快过来。Mike最初并不想介入，但后来他还是来到了巴巴多斯告诉菲比他仍然爱着她并请求嫁给他。菲比虽然拒绝了求婚，但答应与Mike继续关系，同时婉拒了David。
乔伊和Charlie由于两人没有共同点最终分手，很快乔伊得知瑞秋对自己有好感，起初他并不决定做出任何行动。与此同时，Charlie认定自己仍然爱着罗斯，乔伊看到了罗斯和Charlie两人的热吻，于是改变了主意来到了瑞秋房间亲吻起来，该季结束。
第十季（共18集）
乔伊和瑞秋的恋情只维持了三集，当他们发现它们之间的情感一直是纯洁的友情，他们根本不适应身体上的交往，于是他们决定还是只做朋友。 剧情继续，Mike决定再次向菲比求婚，并于稍后两人举行了婚礼。
钱德勒和摩妮卡向Erica申请领养她的孩子并决定从现在的公寓搬到郊外去住。最后一集，Erica生了一对龙凤胎，Jack和Erica。 瑞秋到Gucci应聘工作，但;拉夫劳伦（Ralph Lauren）的老板也在场，最后她因此丢掉了工作。当她离开公司时，碰到了Mark（在第三季出现过），Mark介绍了她新的工作，但地点在巴黎。朋友们为瑞秋举行了告别派对，瑞秋伤感的轮流跟朋友们告别，但除了罗斯。罗斯因此很沮丧，直到瑞秋告诉他她不向他告别是因为太难了。两人随后睡在了一起。
最后一集，罗斯意识到自己仍然爱着瑞秋，并赶到机场告诉了她，但瑞秋婉拒了。罗斯沮丧地回到公寓，但瑞秋下了飞机回到了公寓，于是两人拥吻了。结尾，所有人都留下自己的一把钥匙离开了钱德勒和摩妮卡的旧公寓，然后一起喝咖啡。临走时钱德勒说了一句讽刺意味的幽默：“Where？”(到哪里去呢？)

《Friends》之所以受人欢迎，其一是因为它完全具备消费良品的素质，而更重要的是，在不断的笑声中，它让我们看到了另一种和我们一样普通的生活，形形色色的人因为情感、原则、利益、地位等问题产生矛盾、闹出笑话，同时，亲情、友情、爱情也在这里升华。《Friends》无形中成为人们日常生活的一面镜子，可以让我们学习生活，去欣赏生活中的那些真善美。

杜甫在《赠卫八处士》里写到：“少壮能几时？鬓发各已苍。访旧半为鬼，惊呼热中肠。”《老友记》与我们分别已经6年，这6年的人生蹉跎，或许消去了成长的烦恼的我们，在随波逐流，与世俯仰中，已经渐渐地感到疲惫和无望，可是那6张熟悉的笑脸，却从没带给我们看到六角雪花融化的那种伤感。每当那熟悉的音乐响起，他们有意无意的调侃总能在我们的大脑里引起最有益身心的那种条件反射。《老友记》总是积极的，总是向上的，总是温暖的，他们在最困难的时候总会拥抱对方，传达信任、关怀、理解，他们用难以置信的包容将那些勇于内斗、斤斤算计的人照得无比渺小。是的，他们更像是太阳与月亮的综合体，温暖但不灼热，在你思念时随时可以仰望。在第四次回味他们的悲喜，我以此文，纪念这6位我们虚幻的兄弟姐妹
之所以能那么地喜欢这些朴实的感动，多多少少《老友记》代表着我们对友情的怀念吧，毕竟朋友不和相伴一生的夫妻一样，可以长长久久，当我们只能在QQ或者博客里了解大家的境况时，总有一些落寞的感觉。看看他们六人其乐融融的样子，总会有一些宽慰，毕竟有的情感，是一辈子都值得珍惜、值得回味的！
ROSS
罗斯是一个小男人，他沉醉于自己在研究恐龙上取得的小小成功，并总是有意无意地以此作为自己智慧的资本作为炫耀。可惜他的朋友们并不买账，常常拿他古生物学上获得的古怪造诣调侃，所以罗斯在剧中的囧态是最多的。常常看到他被朋友一语雷到，停顿恍惚半秒，或是蹦出一句：“OK!”或是甩甩他的油头闪到一边。当然小男人也是可爱的，特别是他对瑞秋的爱，如同静夜松风，涓涓细流，注定要经历婉转，才能最终打动一个女人的心弦。 他的快乐，源于他的勇于自嘲，和容易满足。
CHANDLER
钱德勒的性格具有多重性，他总是刻意用幽默与人保持距离，会偶尔神经质地将一个事情高声强调两遍来表达自己的情绪。钱德勒有一个习惯的动作，当他接触陌生女人时，总爱插着裤兜，习惯性地将他的小蛮腰扭来扭去，这会有意无意地造成一种距离感，而不是乔伊那种强大的亲和力，自然在与女孩交往时没有老友的顺风顺水。钱德勒和罗斯都是水性男子（还记得他们那次掰腕子未分胜负么？），钱德勒可能还要更重些，只是他比较善于将人生里诸如父亲变性那种痛苦的记忆化为一个个令人拍案的冷笑话罢了。
JOEY
乔伊，思考对他来说是一件太费劲和奢侈的事情，就连他吃饭的演技也似乎是浑然天成的。乔伊单纯得有趣，甚至有时需要用十个手指去算数，可是他的招牌动作也是最多的，比如说：“HOW YOU DOING！”时的淫邪，总能不可思议地得逞。乔伊浑身总散漫着孩子那种天生的浪漫，他的不认真是一种境界，当他对你开导时，有时措辞很浅薄，却往往一语中的，于是我们最爽朗的笑声，往往能从他那得到。
MONICA
莫妮卡很“控”，那种“控”有时非常疯狂，甚至有时搞得她自己都很难为情。这个女人对清洁的爱好甚至可以掩盖和老公做爱的激情。莫妮卡又是一个热烈和勇敢的追求者，她那苛求完美的个性总能引爆各种笑料，可是她依旧不以为然，因为她是莫妮卡，她要做到最好，尽管那是一件很小的、她真正关心的事情。
PHOEBE
菲比总能有一些奇思妙想和天才创造，每次我看到她用几个简单的和弦和简单的扫弦弹出一首后现代主义的歌时都感到很奇妙，更别提她能理解罗斯弹的电子琴、忽然说她妈妈的灵魂附在一只猫上了。有时众人在热烈地讨论，已经令人感到妙语连连了，可她寥寥一语，总有一种“一览众山小”的绝妙，自觉聪明的罗斯也是被她弄无语也最多。菲比是一个很容易被惊奇和被快乐的人，总能看到她张着大口晃着小臂兴奋地喊：“WOW,WOW。”这种从生活中获得乐趣的方法简直是一种天赋。
RACHEL
性感、感性、美丽、善良、还有些小事业心，她简直就是一个女神。有时看到她风风火火，激情四射，有时又黯然伤神，又如在森林里孤立无助的小红帽。瑞秋很让人忽略的一点是，她有时是非常理智和客观的，当挚友们夸张地阐述一些事情的时候，她总是有泼冷水的嫌疑，当她意识到这一点，就会不自觉地挠挠头。可以说瑞秋是一个不断成长的故事，初初的那种青涩转变成了另外一种魅力，当她和罗斯结合后总算满足了大家花好月圆的幻想，有时，我们都把自己当成罗斯了，不是么？

梗每一集驮的媒名磷字都跟叫做The One，宙是哉让所农有episode致的妙名字梢放讫在一伶起咽时硕比较莆整丈齐好记。

1. Stage 24 (home to Friends from season two until now) is said to be haunted. It is one of the oldest stages on the Warner Bros. lot and rumors of late night "occurrences" have been circulating for years!

2. Each episode enlists from 35 to 50 extras. James Michael Tyler (Gunther) was an extra in season one. He was the only extra who could work the cappuccino machine, which led to his recurring role. Not until his first spoken line ("Yes." in The One with Phoebe's Dad) did the writers give him a name.
